
Josephine (Torra) DeGregorio of Medford passed away on Monday, May 31st. She was 90. Born in San Sossio, Baronia, Avellino, Italy, she was the cherished daughter of the late Giuseppe and Maria Lucia (Barrasso) Torra.
In her early years before coming to America, Josephine worked as a seamstress for women’s undergarments and in a shoe factory. She immigrated to America in 1947, relocating with her family to the North End, in Boston. This is where she met the love of her life. Her loving husband Gerald.
Josephine and Gerald decided to start a family and moved to Medford. She was a dedicated wife and mother and was proud to be able to stay home and raise her children. Josephine’s kitchen was the heart of their house. Josephine loved to cook, her Italian dishes were amazing and she always had something on the stove and was known to feed the neighborhood.
Josephine was the beloved wife of 65 years to the late Gerald F. DeGregorio. She was the devoted mother of Vincent DeGregorio and his wife Deborah, Marie Faro and her husband James, and Gerald A. DeGregorio and his wife Deborah. She was the loving Nana of James Faro Jr. and his wife Angela, Nicolette Mascari and her husband Adam, Cassandra Faro, John DeGregorio and Daniel DeGregorio. She was the great Big Nana of Kayla, James III and Gavin Faro, Carina and Dominic Mascari. She was the dear sister of the late Niguelina, John and Frank Torra.
Funeral from Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford Friday, June 4th at 10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4 - 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
