Obituary

NORTH SACO- Richard M. Grace, age 74, of Heath Road, passed away at his home on May 30th, 2021 with family and his beloved dog, Abby, at his side. He was born in Biddeford on July 2nd, 1946, a son of the late Herbert and Rose (Tyrell) Grace. After graduating from Thornton Academy in 1965, Richard went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam, primarily at Cam Rahn Bay.
Throughout his working years in the building trade, Richard was employed as a truck driver and a shop foreman working with York Lumber Hardware, A.W. Hasting, Gooserock Millwork, Rufus Deering, and Huttig where he retired. After finding out that retirement life was not exciting enough for him, Richard educated himself in a whole new trade and worked his later years at LAW Calibration L.L.C. where he quickly became everyone’s favorite coworker and was always employee of the month.
Richard will always be remembered for the enjoyment he had hunting and fishing, doing woodworking projects, operating his Kioti tractor, working with projects around his and his children’s homes, and being with his beloved family.
He is predeceased by his parents; and siblings - Beverly Parker, Rosemary Desjardins, and Herbert Grace.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of almost 53 years – Janice (Kozloff) Grace; children Tonya L. Grace-Pouliot and her husband Ken of Saco, Eric H. Grace and his wife Tanya of Saco, and Tara R. Grace-Waterhouse and her husband Louis of Saco; siblings – Brenda Grace, Ruth M. Morse, and Judith Herbert; and grandchildren – McKalie, Zachary, and Elena.
A memorial service to celebrate Richard’s life will be held on Saturday June 5th at 1 PM at the North Saco Congregational Church, 133 Heath Road, Saco. Interment will be at a later date at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service, Buxton, www.mainefuneral.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the North Saco Congregational Church, P.O.Box 706, Saco, Maine 04072., where Richard was a lifelong member and served as the church Deacon, custodian, and President.
