Obituary

Bruce James Jackson, was found deceased in his home on the Friday afternoon of May 21, 2021. Bruce was 68 years of age born in Ventura, California January 8, 1953. He was the youngest of three brothers raised by his parents Doris Aurora Navarro Jackson and Solomon Brandt Jackson. Doris and Solomon (Jack) actually raised four boys, the forth son being Bob Lewis.

Bruce was a single man. He was a graduate of Buena High School of Ventura in the Class of 1971. He played both football and baseball for the Bulldogs. He attended Ventura College where he played in the offensive line on the 1971 and 72' football teams. He would receive a football scholarship to the Cal State University at Northridge. He would later drop out of the program after his Junior year.

When Bruce cam home he worked with his Dad for Shell Oil Company and later for Associated Concrete Company.

In 1978 while backing his motorcycle out of a driveway on Foothill he was struck by a truck. His leg was severed at the knee. After a 7.5 hour surgery the leg was reattached. Because of the severity of the accident, Bruce had trouble finding a job he could handle. As it would turn out Bruce could put his time into being the principle care taker for his aging parents Doris and Jack. In this way they could live out their lives on the land they loved so much. When they passed Bruce was able to live on the land as well until his passing.

Bruce, some would say walked to a different beat. He was his own man who loved being with his friends and family, especially while having a cold one. He had a really good sense of humor and enjoyed taking jobs at his friend and brothers. He had a passion of military aircraft. He possessed the Jackson family trait of "stubbornness" but had a really big heart. Those who really knew him came to love him.

Bruce struggled after his car accident in a lot of ways but last year was very satisfying to him. He and his brother, Brandt, would spend more quality time together which was a comfort to both. Though Bruce never married he had a special love and affection for his neighbors on Linden Drive. They, in turn all loved him. He will be missed but not forgotten.

There will be a celebration of his life held Saturday June 26, 2021 at his home on Linden Drive at 2:00 pm. It will be held outside, food and refreshments will be provided. Dress casual. Any questions contact 805-643-9777.
