Mrs. Fernande M. (Couture) Gilbert, a lifelong resident of the Merrimack Valley and beloved wife of the late Ovila Gilbert, passed away at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill on Saturday morning, May 22, 2021. She was 98 years old. Born in Levis, Canada, she was the beloved daughter of the late Omer and Marie (Trepanier) Couture. Fernande was a Machine Operator at the Lawrence Mills and Unitrode in Methuen, for many years. Some of here favorite things were playing Bingo, crossword puzzles, cards and spending time with her family. Her three great granddaughters often kept her very busy. Above all, Fernande was very devoted to her family and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law; Charlene and her husband Brian Bernardini of Methuen, son and daughter-in-law; Donald and his wife Sandra Gilbert of Methuen, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Richard and John Gilbert, mother-in-law of the late Janice Gilbert, sister of Dorothy Paquette, Doris Cardone, Emma Gaumond, Irene Reynolds, Lucille Minassian, Omer Couture, Roger Couture and Emil Couture.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Friday, May 28, 2021 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Edgar J. Racicot Inc. Funeral Home, 1400 Broadway Rd., Dracut.
