Eva Lou (Dalton) Perkins, 94, born in Mitchell, IN January 24, 1927 and was an Anderson resident all her life. She was graduated from Anderson High School in 1944, where she was a girl’s dean assistant for four years. Upon graduation, she enlisted in the United States Nurse Cadet Corp during World War II and graduated from St. John Hickey Memorial Hospital in 1948. She was May Queen at St. Johns during her nursing career and was a registered nurse in the Emergency Room and Assistant Superior on the third shift for many years. She retired from Delco Remy Medical Dept. in 1994 after 30.6 years of service. She was an avid bowler, a member of the Anderson Women’s Bowling Association for over 65 years. (AWBA Hall of Fame recipient in 1984.) She bowled in several state tournaments as well as bowing 49 years in the International Bowling Congress National Championship tournament. She held numerous offices in the bowling association. She was a volunteer care giver after retirement for many in need. She married her husband Walter “Bud” Perkins October 30, 1948. He preceded her on June 5, 2010.
She was also preceded by her mother, Bessie (Burton) Eck; father, Lawrence Dalton; step-father, Hillard C. Eck; sister, Martha Jean Thurber and her brothers, Jack LeRoy Dalton and James Robert Dalton.
She is survived by daughter, Sandra Kay (Barry) Ogle of Pendleton and son, Daniel Bert Perkins of Anderson; several nieces, nephews including Robert Hillard (Eunice) Dalton of Backers, Mirion; niece, Dianna Jean (Herman) Regert of Broomfield, Colorado; nephew, Tim (Suzie) Thurber of Shelbyville, Tennessee and Gary Thurber of Middletown, Indiana, step-granddaughter; four grandchildren and many friends.
She loved enjoying her home and family also working in the yard and her many years of helping and caring for other people and her patients.
Graveside service will be Noon on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at East Maplewood Cemetery Chapel.
