Obituary

Mr. John R. Robinson, a lifelong resident of Andover and beloved husband of Jacqueline M. (Demers) Robinson, passed away at his home on Wednesday evening, May 12, 2021. He was 86 years old.

Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late David D. and Amy (Ramsay) Robinson. John served in US Army as a Tank Mechanic. In civilian life, John worked as an Auto Mechanic in Andover. Besides his beloved wife of 60 years, Jacqueline, John is survived by his loving sons and daughter-in-law: Dean E. Robinson and Sharon of Yorba Linda, California, David J. Robinson of Andover and Neil R. Robinson and his wife Susan K. Sughrue of Londonderry, New Hampshire; brother: David and his wife Miriam Robinson of The Villages, Florida; grandchildren: Justin, Nicholas and Matthew Robinson, Mark, Elizabeth and Xavier Labbe and Alexandria Dupras; great-grandchildren: Jonah, Maya and Emelia Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.

John’s wants were few and his love of life, family and nature great. He enjoyed reading non-fiction, spending time with family and he embraced the beauty of simplicity. He had a quick, albeit dry, wit and a youthful chuckle that would follow every quip. Throughout the years, he was a supportive and thoughtful husband working hard with his wife, Jacqueline, to provide for each other and their family. He was an amazing father and grandfather who always gave the gift of his time, showing love through his actions and leading by his example.

John was an avid birdwatcher and hiker whose love of nature was contagious. For those that knew John, his enthusiasm and guidance helped foster a relationship with nature and the world of birds. He was thrilled to bring others along on his lifetime journey, sharing books and his knowledge along the way. A bird perched on a feeder or the beauty of its early morning song will forever make them think of John and this gift he gave to them. John will be dearly missed.
