Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Friday at 9 am. Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish at 10 am. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:30 pm. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 pm. Obituary
Mrs. Gately died Tuesday morning at her home under the care of her family and hospice. She was the wife of the late Paul J. Gately. She was born and raised in Lynn a daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Garrity) Lynch. She was a graduate of Lynn High School Class of 1940 and Burdett College. During WW II Mrs. Gately served as a WAVE in the US Navy.
Mrs. Gately had been a teacher aide in the City of Brockton School Department at the Adult Learning Center. She then was employed as a clerk at the Fitzgerald Insurance Agency in Brockton. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles.
She had been a longtime communicant of St. Edward Church and also attended the Chapel at Westgate. Former CCD Teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
She is survived by her children Kathleen Clark and her husband Donald of N. Easton; Paul J. of North Carolina; Thomas E. of Plymouth; Joseph P. of Florida and Margaret A. Mason and her husband John of Brockton, seven grandchildren and a great grandchild. She leaves two brothers Albert Lynch of Mt. Laurel, NJ and Richard Lynch of Swampscott and many nieces and nephews.
