JOHNSON James R. Westinghouse Executive, Publisher, Small Business Owner and MA Department of Revenue Director of Accounts

JOHNSON James R. (Jim) of Weston formerly of Wellesley, passed away peacefully at Hospice House in Lincoln with his wife Lee at his side on May 14, 2021. Jim was 78. He was born in Fall River, Massachusetts the loving son of James J. and Helen (Hargraves) Johnson on October 5, 1942.

Jim graduated from Case High School in Swansea, MA in 1960 then graduated from Brown University in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics. Following graduation from Brown, Jim entered the Army Reserves, proudly serving for six years. He went on to work for Westinghouse Corporation for a number of years in different financial positions, finishing as Business Manager at WBZ TV and Radio. He moved on to pursue several entrepreneurial ventures then finished his career with the Massachusetts Department of Revenue as Director of Accounts from which he retired in 2006.

Jim was a strong supporter of Brown University and its football program and a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots and Boston Bruins. He was a member of the Clover Club of Boston and a former Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Equestrian Knights of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem and a devoted Eucharistic Minister at St Paul Parish in Wellesley, MA. When Jim and Lee lived in Wellesley, he was Chairman of the Advisory Committee.

Jim loved his home, family and many friends who enjoyed his unique sense of humor and storytelling, often leaving everyone in total laughter. Jim and Lee loved entertaining friends especially for Jim’s wonderful cookouts. For many years they attended Christmas Pops at Symphony Hall with a close group of friends.

Besides his devoted wife of 39 years, Lee Shepherd Johnson, he leaves his brother Jerry and wife Cindy of Fairhaven, Mass., his niece Anne Johnson Landry and husband Ryan of Reading, Mass., niece Emily Johnson of Brooklyn, NY and grandnephews Michael and Charlie of Reading.

Visiting hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 477 Washington St. (Rt. 16) Wellesley on Wednesday, May 19th from 4-7PM. Funeral from the funeral home on Thursday, May 20th at 9AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Paul Church, Wellesley at 10am. Interment Linwood Cemetery, Weston.

Lee would like to thank the compassionate caregivers at Lahey Clinic, led by Dr. Keith Stuart and the wonderful staff at Hospice House Lincoln who made his final days so peaceful.
