Obituary

WILBRAHAM – Catherine “Pinky” (Roukas) Mammarelli, 94, of Wilbraham, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, May 8, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on March 29, 1927, the daughter of the late William and Mary (Lolos) Roukas. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from Commerce High School in Springfield and had lived in Springfield until moving to Wilbraham in 1966. She was a member of Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield. Known as Pinky to everyone, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cared for her family and enjoyed cooking. She was most adamant on providing a happy and healthy environment for her family and was always concerned about the wellness of her family. She made friends easily and maintained friendships over many years. She loved traveling and enjoyed spending time with her family on annual ski trips to Loon Mountain in New Hampshire and ocean visits to Ogunquit, Maine. She leaves her beloved husband and soul mate, Naldo D. “Nardi” Mammarelli. They were married on October 25, 1953 at Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield and were blessed with over 67 years of happiness together. She also leaves her three loving daughters, Laura Mammarelli and her husband, Jim Meryman, of Holderness, NH, Mary E. “Moe” Jewell of Amesbury, MA and Diane L. Mega and her husband, Chris, of Meredith, NH; her six cherished grandchildren, Amber Meryman and her husband, Patrick Welsh, Brendan Meryman and his wife, Rebecca, Sarah Lord, Ben Lord and his fiancée, Emily Chreiman, Evan Mega and his partner, Quinn Webb, and Tyler Mega; her two cherished great-grandsons, Camden and Jackson; and her cousins, family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her dear brother, Theodore Roukas. She will Lie in Repose on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. which will be followed by a Funeral Service at 10 a.m. at Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2320 Main Street, Springfield, MA 01107. Her Burial will be private at Oak Grove Cemetery in Springfield. Please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and Cathedral capacity is limited due to state regulations. Her funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Springfield Chapels (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
