Obituary

SOUTH PORTLAND- Beloved and cherished Rosemary Ellen Clark left this earthly realm on May 10, 2021 surrounded by family after a long battle with Posterior Cortical Atrophy, a rare form of Alzheimers disease. She now walks with the angels.

Rosemary was born on December 15, 1948 in Montclair, New Jersey the daughter of Thomas and Marion Lavery. She graduated from Caldwelll College in 1970 after which she became a teacher and used her loving, patient demeanor to shape the lives of many. She married the love of her life, Peter Clark, on December 27, 1970 and together they raised four children. In 1988, Rosemary and Peter started a family business in Saco, Maine and in 1989 they expanded the business to South Portland. The Broadway Getty became a staple in the Ferry Village area for 26 years. As busy as she was making sure kids were fed, caught up on homework and making sure they made it to practice on time, she still managed to devote countless hours to her church and a host of organizations.

Rosie was a loving woman of compassion and service. She was a Reiki healer who touched countless lives over the years with her energy, love and kindness. A loyal friend, she was always willing to hold the world together so those around her had a safe place to fall apart. She walked into lives with grace and dignity, expecting nothing, yet giving everything. As long as she could still lift a hand, she would lift it in kindness. She had a way of making everyone feel special. Her essence was love and she was a spiritual force. Rosemary’s devotion to God was an important part of her life. She spent 15 years with Sacred Tides where she mastered the art of meditation and energetics. She lead and participated in many circles sharing her gifts with us and will forever be in our hearts.

Rosemary is predeceased by her parents - Thomas and Marion Lavery.

Rosemary is survived by her beloved husband Peter Clark; their children - William Clark and his fiance Lisa Gunn of South Portland; Amy Salinas and her husband Sergio Salinas of San Diego, CA; Jennifer Clark of Standish and Daniel Clark of San Diego, CA; two grandchildren - Eden Gunn and Sofie Salinas; three sisters - Margaret Folland, Eileen Anderson and Donna Branson; two brothers - Timothy Lavey and Thomas Lavery and many nieces and nephews. All who loved her dearly will miss her wit, charm, grace and her undying love and caring for them.

A celebration of life will be held in the summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Southern Maine, a nonprofit organization who provides a valuable service to patients and families.
