Myrtle Perkins (Polley), age 97, of Braintree passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021. Myrtle was raised in Southbridge prior to attending UMASS Amherst and Amherst College where she received a Master’s Degree in Chemistry. Myrtle worked at Cabot Corporation in Boston for ten years as a research chemist.
Myrtle married her husband, William, in 1957 and they settled in Braintree where they started their family and stayed for 60 years. Myrtle was a longtime member of Holy Nativity Church in Weymouth where she received the Rose and Rector’s Cross Award, was a eucharistic minister, and was an emeritus member of Sigma Xi. Myrtle volunteered at Braintree Public Schools and Kindred Hospital and was employed at Northwestern Mutual Life, then Curry College.
Myrtle was predeceased by her beloved husband William Perkins in 1991. Myrtle is survived by her daughter Gail Perkins of Kalamazoo, MI.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Myrtle on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 9-10am in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S.
