Obituary

BELCHERTOWN – Mary Jane (Forest) Bayeur, 79, of the Pine Valley Plantation in Belchertown and a former longtime resident of Sullivan Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, May 8, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at Keystone Commons in Ludlow surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on January 12, 1942, the beloved daughter of the late Alpherie D. and Alvina (Heroux) Forest. She was raised on Linden Street in the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, graduated in 1959 from the former Cathedral High School in Springfield and moved to Aldenville in 1963 before moving to Belchertown in 2002. She was employed at the Fairview Machine Shop in Chicopee and retired as the Office Manager. Following high school, she had previously worked at the Royal Typewriter Company in Springfield. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club and enjoyed traveling, reading and walking during her leisure time. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She leaves her beloved husband and soul mate, Raymond N. Bayeur. They were married on October 5, 1963 at the former Saint George Church in Chicopee Falls and were blessed with over 57 years of happiness together. She also leaves her three loving children, Christine M. Bayeur, David J. Bayeur of Chicopee and Donna M. Atwood and her husband, Craig, of Hickory, NC; her five cherished grandchildren, Nicole, Katherine and Erik Bayeur and Sarah and Ethan Atwood; her dear sister-in-law, Helen Teerlinck and her husband, Robert, of Columbia, MO; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her dear brother, Rolland “Maurice” Forest who was Called Home on May 6, 1990. Her Funeral will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, May 16, 2021 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and funeral home, Church and cemetery attendance are limited due to state regulations.
