WORCESTER-James E. Drapos, 82, of 84 Longfellow Road died Sunday, July 21st in Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston after a brief illness. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Vasilikie E. (Kollios) Drapos; a daughter, Theodora Drapos of Brookline, two brothers, Arthur and Alexander E. Drapos both of Worcester; two sisters, Athena Tsoules of Worcester and Helen Rougas of Paxton; several nephews & nieces. A brother, Nicholas Drapos of Worcester died in 1994.
He was born in Longos, North Epirus, Albania the son of Evangelos and Theodora (Liazos) Drapos and moved to the United States when he was eleven years old. Mr. Drapos was co-owner of The Caravan Company, Inc. in Worcester since 1948 and has served as president for many years. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and served as past president of its board of directors as well as the Order of AHEPA Organization and was a member of the Epirotic Society. He was a loyal Braves fan beginning in the 1940’s when they were a Boston based team and enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 24th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, with a service at Noon in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, July 23rd from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the James E.
