Obituary

PAXTON: Anna Maria (Hajdukiewicz) Hughes, 96, of Paxton, died peacefully at her daughter's home, on Monday, May 3rd.
Her husband of 61 years, Lloyd D. Hughes, died in 2007. She was predeceased by her sister Julia Holub of Vienna, Austria who she was reunited with 11 years after World War II. She leaves her daughter Janine Hughes Goldberg and her husband Gary of Paxton, her granddaughters Julie Goldberg of Paxton and Ashley and her husband Jeremy Gnozzo and their children Greyson, Luca, Vivianna and Maverick of Charlotte, NC.
Anna Maria was a staff librarian at the Richard Sugden Library in Spencer for over 25 years, retiring in 2005. She was also a 35-year member and past Chairman of the Spencer Historical Commission. During her tenure on the Commission, she was instrumental in placing many of the town's properties on the National Register of Historic Places. She was awarded the Town's Meritorious Service Award by the Board of Selectmen in 2006, commemorating her 35 years of dedicated service to the community.
She was born in Lithuania, the daughter of Witold and Julia (Boldok) Hajdukiewicz and lived in Spencer from 1955 to 2014 after meeting the love of her life and marrying him on February 14, 1946 in Hersbruck, Germany. Anna Maria lived a long and fulfilling life and will be greatly missed.
Private funeral services and burial were held in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to TriValley, Inc., 10 Mill St., Dudley, MA 01571. The J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., is directing arrangements for the family.
