LOWELL: George W. Carr, age 84, a resident of Lowell for the past 3 years, died Sunday, March 26, 2006 at the Fairhaven Nursing Home.
Mr. Carr was born in Arlington on November 13, 1921.
He served during World War II in the U.S. Army and was awarded several decorations including the Good Conduct Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with a Bronze Service Arrowhead, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 Bronze service Stars and the Victory Medal.
He resided at the Nichols Building at Tewksbury Hospital and later lived at the Carnation Drive Housing Community of Tewksbury for over 10 years.
Survivors include his friend; Robert Ryan of Tewksbury; the staff and residents of Fairhaven Nursing Home, Carnation Drive Housing Community and Tewksbury Hospital.
Calling hours Thursday, March 30th, 9-10 a.m., followed by a prayer service at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
