Joan I. Easterbrooks, 76

Joan I. (Bennett) Easterbrooks, age 76, of Taunton, MA died at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth MA on Saturday, May 1, 2021. She was the loving wife of the late Allan F. Easterbrooks.

Born in Providence RI on July 25, 1944, she was one of six daughters born to the late Louis and Ada (Horne) Bennett. She is survived by her five sisters: Joyce Haigh of Florida, Lois Giorgianni and her husband Tony of South Carolina, Carolyn Bart and her husband Gerry of North Carolina, Beverly Adkins of Massachusetts, and Paula Hayes, also of Massachusetts.

Mrs. Easterbrooks was raised in Providence RI and moved to Taunton MA upon marriage and remained a resident of the community for most of her life with the exception of the years spent in Winthrop, ME and Attleboro, MA. Mrs. Easterbrooks was educated in Providence RI Public Schools, and graduated with honors from Mount Pleasant High School.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Easterbrooks was employed at as the opening cashier at Shaw’s in Taunton for many years.

While a resident of Taunton, Mrs. Easterbrooks was a communicant of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Taunton, MA.

She treasured the time spent with family especially the grandchildren, great grandchildren, adopted families and friends creating lifelong cherished memories for herself and others.

Mrs. Easterbrooks was a lover of Country Music, cooking, jigsaw puzzles, drinking coffee at Dunkin Donuts with friends and being a grandma.

She was the mother of the late David Easterbrooks who died in June 1974 and Karen Easterbrooks, who died in July 1967. Additionally she leaves two sons: Richard A. Easterbrooks and his companion Lynn Bilodeau of Taunton, Robert B. Easterbrooks and his wife, Linda (Fitzpatrick) Easterbrooks, of Winthrop, ME; three grandchildren: Pauline Chicoine and her husband James of Taunton, MA, Teresa of Ellsworth, ME, and Phillip of Winthrop, ME; two great Grandchildren Cecilia and Freya; two unofficial adopted sons: David Jordan of East Bridgewater and Michael Masse of Arcadia, FL and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, cherished neighbors and dear friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday May 7th at 10 am at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Taunton. Immediately following the church service an internment service will be at the Thomas Cemetery in Swansea, MA. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.

She requested no visiting hours, but her family will have a celebration of life tentatively scheduled on August 7th at noon at the home of her son Richard Easterbrooks.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory can be made to the Salvation Army or to St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Taunton.
