Obituary

David F. Rainsford., 78, of Millis died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Christine Schneider, together for 50 years.

Born in Boston on November 13, 1942, he was the son of the late Edmund and Louise (Mahoney) Rainsford.

David was a resident of Millis since 1993. He grew up in Brighton, graduated from Brighton High School and attended Northeastern University.

Before his retirement, he worked as a City of Boston school police officer for 35 years.

David was an avid reader, especially of books as well as newspapers, so that he could keep up on current affairs. He also enjoyed working outdoors in his yard and loved vacationing on Block Island with his wife Christine and dog Daisy.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his nieces and nephews, LeighAnn, Robert and his wife Lisa, Donna and Kevin and his beloved animals, Daisy the dog and Amos the cat.

He was the brother of the late Barbara Lancaster and William Rainsford.

Private graveside services will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy may be made in David’s memory to The Purr-fect Cat Shelter, P.O. Box, 548 Medway, MA 02053.
