Obituary

SPENCER/LEICESTER: Robert L. Giggey, 87, of Spencer and Leicester, died peacefully, at home surrounded by loving family Thursday, April 29.
His wife of 62 years, Judith A. (Moreau) Giggey, died in 2018. He leaves his sons Brad M. Giggey of Leicester, Jay S. Giggey and his wife Ann of Leicester and Bryce R. Giggey of Leicester, his daughter Dana A. Makie of Leicester, and Andrea Culross and family. Dad Bob’s grandchildren; Aimee and husband Greg, Neal and wife Tara, Brendon and wife Erica, Nikolas, Karlee, Mitchel, Tatum, Quinn and Jordan, 5 great grandchildren; Jayden, Grace, Jack, Lincoln and Grant, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters Vivian and Pauline.
Robert was a mechanical engineer at Formsprag-Dana Corp. for his entire career and officially retiring at 80 years old.
Born in Fort Fairfield, ME., he was the son of Leonard and Fern ( Gilman) Giggey, graduated from Fort Fairfield High School and Norwich University. He also served his country in the U.S. Army.
Robert served as a Selectman for the Town of Leicester, was an avid snowmobiler and co-founded the Leicester Snowrovers. He was a member of the American Legion Post 205 in Rochdale, and was active in the Leicester Little League. He enjoyed snow skiing and water skiing in his younger years. He loved working on the family farm on Bond Street with his children and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leicester Little League, P.O. Box 393, Leicester, Ma. 01524. Private calling hours were held on Saturday in the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester.
