Obituary

Lois Smith Yancey, 79, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, May 1, 2021, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Yancey was born July 8, 1941, to the late Frank & Ruby Smith. She was a 1959 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. She worked as a bookkeeper and accounts payable clerk for Berlin Corporation. She loved the Christmas holiday and enjoyed watching Christmas movies all year long. She was a member of the Abundant Life Pentecostal Worship Center.

She is survived by her husband, Lamar Yancey of Fitzgerald; a son, Tommy Brown, Jr. & Kimberly of Fitzgerald; a daughter, Ruby Lynn Chambers & Hiram of Irwin County; a step-son, Ronnie Lamar Yancey of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Constance Wilson, Stephen Harp, Jake Brown, Ty Brown, Brandon Chambers, and Jeremy Chambers; several great-grandchildren; a brother, John Edward Smith of Fitzgerald; and two sisters: Frankie Lou Manning and Myrtle Jones, both of Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Melanie Brown Harp.
