Robert Michael Griffiths
January 14, 1941 - April 27, 2021

Robert passed peacefully on April 27, 2021 in New Bedford with his family surrounding him.
Robert was born at home on a cold winters day. As a child he enjoyed playing sports with his siblings friends and teams at school and family gatherings.
He graduated from New Bedford High School in 1960.
Robert was a member of ROTC and entered the military upon graduating. He proudly served his country in the U.S Army and National Guard elevating to the rank of SFC SPEC5-E5, He was activated in the Berlin Crisis.
After leaving the service, he returned home and focused on raising his family and working for UPS for 36 years being a strong supporter of Teamsters Union.
He loved the New England Patriots holding season tickets!
Robert enjoyed spending time with family and travel and Saturday morning breakfast at Friendly's with Donna.
He enjoyed following sports, politics and talking about his days in the military and spirituality. He was a very kind and compassionate man to all who knew him.
Robert was predeceased by his loving parents, Captain Thomas J. Griffiths and Mercedes E. (Pendergast) Griffiths, his great granddaughter Kaisley Marie Silva and his later in life companion, Carol Mercer.
Robert is survived by the love of his life, former wife, Sandra Lee (Almond) Griffiths of New Bedford; his four children, Deb Griffiths Brady and her Husband Matthew Brady of New Bedford; Donna Marie Griffiths-Rodriguez of New Bedford, Robert Michael Griffiths, Jr and his wife Diane Elizabeth (Ham) Griffiths of Somerset and James Patrick Griffiths of New Bedford; his grandchildren, Julian Alexander Olivier and his fiancée Erin English of Fairhaven, Nigel Thomas McNamara-Olivier and his wife Crystal of New Bedford, Victoria Rose Rodriguez of New Bedford, Sonya Alexandria Rodriguez and her fiancé Justin Joseph Vanderwater of Braintree, Arianna Elizabeth Rodriguez and her fiancé Norman Joseph Silva, III of New Bedford, Tristan Tomas Rodriguez of Braintree, Maeve Elizabeth Rhiannon Griffiths of Somerset; his great-grandchildren, Baelen, Phoenix and Seabastian Olivier of Fairhaven and Audrey Rae Vanderwater of Braintree; his brother, W. David Griffiths and his wife Sybil Griffiths of Roebuck, South Carolina; his brother, Thomas J. Griffiths and his late wife Arline Griffiths of Portsmouth, RI; his sister, June Mary (Griffiths) Hall of New Bedford; as well as several nieces and nephews.
His Life Celebration will be private.
