Obituary

Sylvia “Maxine” Eidson Lewis, 93, of Ventura passed away on Saturday April 24, 2021. She was able to be at home in Ventura and passed peacefully with her children Kathy, Tommy and Terri at her side. Pastor Dan Hull was able to join the family via a Face Time call with a much appreciated prayer.
Maxine was born to parents Ray and Tressie Eidson on January 11, 1928. She was the third of five children and the first of her Eidson family born in Ventura after the family moved to Ventura from Missouri. She lived her entire life in Ventura, graduating from Ventura High School in 1946. Immediately after high school she went to work for Herman Wexler as a bookkeeper. In 1949 she married Bob Lewis, also a Ventura native. They were married for 66 years when Bob passed away in 2015. Maxine worked until the age of 83 as the bookkeeper for Lewis & Lewis and related businesses started by Bob.
In her later years Maxine enjoyed her time with family and watching her certain TV shows and the Dodgers. She truly enjoyed listening to Vin Scully and would comment after he retired that these other guys are OK, but they aren’t as good as Vinnie.
Maxine was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her daughter Kathy Grunewald; her daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and John Chinnery, and Anna and Danny Belitski; son Tom Lewis; his wife Jan; and their daughters, Cory and husband Ryan Cardone, Emily, and Maddy; daughter Terri Rose; her husband Ted; their daughter, Jessica and fiancé Kris Acebo and daughters Kaelie and Brooke; and son, Jake and wife Tracy. Maxine has 4 great grandsons; James Chinnery, Dylan and Drayden Belitski, and Clifford Rose, as well as sister-in-law Beverly Eidson and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Maxine was preceded in death by her father John Raymond Eidson; mother Tressie Lea Eidson; sister Erma Lea Spiker; brother W.R. “Ed” Eidson; brother Willard D. Eidson; sister Marjorie A. Ball; son-in-law Rick Grunewald; and husband Robert T. “Bob” Lewis
