Obituary

Veronica “Nica” Pandaru, 87, formerly of Worcester, fell asleep in the Lord on Wednesday, April 28th in Beaumont of Natick after a period of declining health.
She leaves her niece and caretaker, Kathy-Lynn Evangelos; her great-nieces and great-nephew, Tracy Evangelos and her daughter, Riley; Steven Evangelos and his wife, Christal and their daughter, Athena; and Annie Sylvester and her husband, Joseph and their children, Lilly, Dominic and Natalie. She adored her great-great nieces and nephew and was delighted to see them during visits. She also leaves a sister, Esther Stevens and many extended family members including, James Pandaru and his wife, Barbara; Arthur Pandaru, David Stevens, and Christopher Stevens and his wife, Gayle. She was predeceased by her sisters, Flora Hibbard and Olympia Germain; and her brothers, Nicholas Pandaru and Spiro Pandaru.
Nica was born and raised in Worcester, the daughter of Athanasie and Sofia (Culetsu) Pandaru and graduated from the former High School of Commerce. Retiring in 2009 from Holy Cross College where she worked as a secretary for many years, she previously worked at Smith Valve Corporation where she was fondly known as “Ronnie”. She was an active member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church where she sang in the choir and belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary group. She attended liturgy faithfully and participated in church events and functions.
The family would like to extend their deep thanks to the caring staff at Whitney Place and Beaumont of Natick and Salmon Hospice over the past five years. Many of the staff would tell the family that she was “one of their favorites".
Her funeral is Monday, May 3rd in St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 34 Gold Street, Shrewsbury with a service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 34 Gold Street, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
