Lucien H. Carrier, 82, of 414 Elm St. died July 21, 2002 in the Lakes Region General Hospital. He was born in Laconia on January 12, 1920, the son of Alfred and Maria (Lapierre) Carrier and has been a lifelong resident of the city.
Prior to his retirement in 1982, he operated Sanitary Dry Cleaners with his brother Fernand for over 31 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish.
He proudly served in the NH National Guard, Battery C 197th Coast Artillery, a unit that was originally organized in 1861. Activated during World War II, he served in the Army in the Asiatic-Pacific theater of the war.
Mr. Carrier was an active member of the Old Battery C Association, and served as secretary/treasurer for a lengthy period of time. In addition he was a member of the Laconia Country Club for over 42 years and was a former member of the board of directors of the club. He held membership in the VFW, Post 1670 of Laconia.
Family members include his wife of 50 years, Irene (Benoit) Carrier of Laconia; a daughter, Nancy A. Wiggin of Meredith; a son, Ron S. Carrier of Laconia; a grandson, Corey Wiggin of Meredith; a granddaughter, Casey Wiggin, of Meredith; a sister, Annette Quintiliani of Concord; three brothers, Fernand L. Carrier and Roland Carrier, both of Laconia and Hector Carrier of Conway; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were private. Following cremation, urn burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Gail Singer Memorial Building, 360 State Rte. 101, Suite 501, Bedford NH 03110-5032.
