Obituary

Angelo Anthony Salvaggio, an 8 year resident of Melrose and former 35 year resident of Wakefield, died on Saturday, March 25, 2006, at his home in Melrose following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 82 years old.

Angelo was born in Boston on March 13, 1924. He grew up in East Boston where he attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from East Boston High School in 1942. Following graduation he enlisted in to the U.S. Army Air Corps and served during WWII. In 1955, he began working for Pan Am Airlines and was their freight Manager at Boston Logan Airport for many years. He retired in 1983. Following his retirement he worked in a bank in Wakefield. Angelo was a member of the I.T.A.M. Club of Revere.

Angelo was the beloved husband of the late Rosemary (DiNatale) Salvaggio. He is the devoted father of Paul R. Salvaggio and his friend Nancy Coy of Malden and Joanne Addonizio and her husband Al of Florida. Angelo is the loving grandfather of Nicole Gaffney, Michelle Salvaggio, Michael A. Salvaggio and his great-granddaughter Amelia Gaffney. Angelo is the loving companion of Rose “Babe” Giangregorio of Winthrop. He is the beloved brother of Charles Salvaggio of East Boston, and the late Phillip, James, Joseph, Salvatore Salvaggio and Rose Perulo.

Angelo’s Funeral will be held from the Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Melrose, on Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at 9:30 a.m. followed by his Funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main Street, Wakefield, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting Hours for Angelo will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2006, from 2 – 8 p.m. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
