Robert W. “Bobby” Dixon, Sr. 76, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 4 PM, Friday, April 23, 2021, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Chuck Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Dixon was born November 19, 1944, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Marvin & Ellene Tison Dixon. He was a 1963 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College majoring in diesel mechanic. In his school years he played basketball. Mr. Dixon was a farmer and enjoyed gardening, working in his yards, hunting for arrowheads, hunting, fishing and being in the woods. Mr. Dixon was a member of Englewood Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, usher, teller and worked in the food pantry.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patsy Dixon of Fitzgerald; a son, Robert W. “Robby” Dixon, Jr. & April of Irwinville; a daughter, Rhonda Dixon Rineair of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Blake Rineair & fiancé Cayce West, Austin Rineair and Gunner Douglas; a great-granddaughter, Arianna Rodriguez; a sister, Patricia Register of Fitzgerald; a sister-in-law, Linda McDonald of Fitzgerald and a brother-in-law, Jimmy & Elene Johnson of Warner Robins. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Gene Dixon and a brother-in-law David Register.
