Obituary


Nora Marie (Murphy) Quinlan, of Medford, April 18th. Beloved wife of the late William L. Quinlan. Mother of William L. Quinlan Jr. and his wife Mary of Reading, Diane Levesque and her husband Marc of Windham, New Hampshire and John Quinlan and his wife Michelle of Stoneham. Grandmother of Aaron and Conner Levesque and MaryGrace and Courtney Quinlan. Sister of Jean Lane of Medford, the late Eugene Murphy and Peggy Kelleher. Nephews Brian and Kevin Lane and Tim and John Kelleher. Born in Cambridge, MA, she grew up in Somerville, MA until she became a resident of Medford, MA spending her married life bringing up her children for many years. She worked as a bookkeeper for most of her career but also volunteered as a CCD teacher and Asst. Teacher for an elementary school in Stoneham after she retired. She was affectionately known as “Mrs. D” in the local Irish Entertainment Industry. She performed for over 30 years in many of the local pubs in Boston including Mr. Dooley’s, The Black Rose and The Littlest Bar where she debuted her kazoo playing with entertainer Patsy Whelan, and the band Harvest Home as well as performing with the band Devri. Her Kazoo playing also included travel to Seattle, WA, to The Owl and Thistle, Naples Maine to the The Black Bear Cafe, Cape Cod, MA and Newburyport, MA at the Irish Festivals. Relatives & friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Saturday April 24th from 9-11 AM. A Funeral mass will immediately follow at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
