Obituary

M. Jean (Brodeur) Chisholm Dancause, 89, a lifelong Lowell resident, passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness, Thursday, April 15, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Philip Dancause, with whom she celebrated Twenty Eight years of Marriage this past February.

A daughter of the late Joseph and the late Mary Ellen (Coope) Brodeur, she was born November 25, 1931, in Lowell, and was educated in the local schools, graduating from Lowell High School.

She made her lifelong home in the Belvidere Section of the City, and was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church.

She worked for Raytheon Corporation for almost forty years as a Secretary before her retirement. Prior to that, she worked for the former St. John’s Hospital in the admitting department.

She enjoyed traveling, time in the kitchen, reading, gardening, and knitting amongst many other hobbies. Her door was always open and she welcomed everyone with open arms. You could always count on leaving her home feeling like you were truly a part of the family. Her smile could light up a room! Family was her center, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her great joy. She was also an animal lover and is survived by one of her favorite grand dogs Clarence.

Besides her loving husband, Philip, she is survived by her children, Donna J. Lambert of Lowell, Jean A. Cafeteiro of Dracut, Patricia M. Dancause and Karen D. Cassella and her husband, William R., of Lowell and Daniel E. Dancause of Pelham, NH, her eight grandchildren, Ryan Cafeteiro and his wife, Natalie, of Dracut, Amy Costello and her husband, Tom, of Dracut, Michael Cafeteiro and his wife, Susan, of Dracut, Karen Dancause and her fiance, Andy Thompson, of Kentucky, Kristine Iannazzi and her husband, Jacob, of Andover, Shelagh Parent of Lowell, and Will and Thomas Cassella, both of Lowell; her great grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew, Matthew, Landon, Carson, Maya, Riley, Violet, Alexander and Daisy. She is also survived by her sister, Evelyn Silva of Groton, and her sister in law, Barbara Brodeur of New Hampshire; and many nieces, nephews and close friends including her dear friend Helen Androchuk of New Hampshire.

She was predeceased by her late husband, Thomas J. Chisholm who passed away in 1990, as well as her brothers, Joseph Brodeur and his wife, Agnes, Ernest Brodeur and his wife, Mary, Edward Brodeur, her sisters, Lorraine Russell and her husband, Frank and Dorothy Renaud, and her brother in law, the late Arthur Silva.

The family would like to thank Harborside Hospice for all the care and compassion they showed to Jean over her finals months.

While practicing social distancing guidelines and wearing a mask, you are invited to her calling hours from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon on Wednesday Morning, at the MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.

Her Funeral Mass will be offered at IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, 144 East Merrimack St., at 1 P.M.. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery.
