Obituary

Florence Sacco, a longtime resident of Charlestown and formerly of the North End, entered into eternal life on Saturday, April 17, 2021, joining her husband Frank in Heaven after 25 days of being apart. She was 96 years of age.

Florence was born in Boston on August 22, 1924, a daughter of the late Thomas Sacco and Anna Antonia (Garofano) Sacco. She spent her childhood in the North End, attending St. Leonard's Parochial School, and moved to Charlestown as a teenager and graduated from The High School of Practical Arts in Boston. Florence worked as a seamstress for a men's clothing manufacturer, and later became a homemaker so she could take care of her beloved family. Florence loved to cook and bake, especially traditional italian meals which she taught to her husband, children, and grandchildren. Florence was also skilled at cake decorating. Her many talents were not beholden to the culinary field; she was a talented seamstress making her children's clothing; and with ceramics she created lamps and nativity sets and with her green thumb, she attended to her numerous flowering indoor plants. Florence was devout to her faith and to her community, often hosting her neighbor's for coffee and her delicious cooking. In her younger years, Florence enjoyed bowling and swing dancing. She was a caregiver, not only raising her beloved family, but also helping to raise her two grandchildren, and taking care of her brother when he was ill. Florence was a member of the Daughter's of Isabella #1 of Charlestown.

Florence is the beloved wife of 64 years to the late Francesco S. "Frank" Sacco, who passed away on March 23, 2021. She is the devoted mother of Alexander Sacco and his wife Patricia, Maria Sacco, and Francis Sacco and his wife Nancy. She is the loving grandmother of James and his wife Amanda, Benjamin, Nina, Francis, and Thomas. She is the beloved sister of the late Generoso Sacco, Carmella Pannozzo, Alexander Sacco, Concetta Christopher, Angelo Sacco, Teresa Maiellano, Anthony Sacco, Michael Sacco, Leonard Sacco, and baby Anthony. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
