Obituary

Neil Louis Donhauser, 67, of Mineral, Virginia passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. Neil was born on May 6, 1953, to the late Evelyn (née Barthelmes) and the late Edwin M. Donhauser in Baltimore, Maryland. He is survived by his sons, Paul Babb Donhauser of Denton, MD and Matthew Neil Donhauser of Richmond, VA; his daughter, Paige Evelyn Donhauser of Webster, NY; his grandson, Landon John Donhauser of Richmond, VA; his brother, Dale W. Donhauser of Mineral, VA; his former wife, Deborah Babb Stroback of Fallston, MD; his nephew, Edwin M. Donhauser, Jr.; his nieces, Cristin Brooks, Samantha Donhauser, and Victoria Donhauser; and his dog, Barrett; as well as many great-nephews, a great-niece, cousins, and countless friends and colleagues. Two of his brothers preceded Neil in death – Edwin M. Donhauser, Sr. and Keith E. Donhauser.

After graduating from Towson High School, Neil attended Catonsville Community College, earning a degree in Construction Management, and had a successful career as a construction executive before retiring. He was an avid antique enthusiast and enjoyed buying pieces to refurbish and refinish, even owning an antique shop with his brother, Keith, for many years. He took great pride in his workshop and woodworking projects. Neil dedicated a significant amount of his time to the Boy Scouts of America, as scouting and the outdoors were passions he shared with his two sons. He served as the Cubmaster of Cub Scout Pack 143 for many years and later as a Committee Member of Boy Scout Troop 143 of Reisterstown, MD. Neil spent his time lately enjoying retirement by gardening, raising chickens, canning vegetables, farming, and tinkering with various projects around his home and in his workshop.

Family and friends may call at The Johnson-Fosbrink Funeral Home, P.A., 8521 Loch Raven Boulevard, Towson, MD 21286 (Beltway Exit 29-B) on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, Pastor Thurman Frey officiating. Interment to follow immediately afterwards at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. Face masks and social distancing will be encouraged.

In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make memorial donations in Neil’s honor to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Email [email protected] for details.

The family also wishes to extend sincerest thanks to the James River Home Health Hospice team of nurses, aides, social workers, etc. who were so supportive and helped to make Neil’s last weeks comfortable.
