Obituary

TAUNTON – Mildred A. Perry, age 90, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2021 at Marian Manor of Taunton. Born in North Dighton, she was the daughter of the late Antone and Filomena (Rose) Costa.

“Millie” was the mother of Donna Klamkin (Steven) of Fall River, Jane MacNeil (Roderick) of Waltham and Stephen Perry (Susan) of S. Kingstown, RI; sister of George Costa (Judith) of Taunton, Lorraine Garant of Portsmouth, RI., Natalie Rose of Taunton and the late Beatrice Semas, Seraphim Costa, Antone Costa Jr. and Filomena Haigler; grandmother of Allison Klamkin, Casey MacNeil (fiancé Zachary Lane) and Brianne MacNeil. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was also the former spouse and dear friend of the late Gilbert Perry.

An active volunteer throughout her lifetime, Millie was particularly proud of her work for the Mended Hearts Greater Fall River Chapter 191, serving as an Officer and making comfort visits to those experiencing open heart surgery at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She also devoted countless hours to the Leisurewoods of Taunton Residents’ Association, performing in many of their shows and decorating the clubhouse for every holiday. She was a member of the St. Patrick’s (Somerset) Women’s Guild, and the Friends of Music in Somerset for many years. A graduate of Dighton High School in the Business Program, she worked in various retail positions at W.T. Grant, Caldor and was the first Cash Office Manager at Filenes in the Silver City Galleria. In high school, she was a member of the softball team, cheerleading squad and glee club, and later was an avid golfer and bowler. Perhaps Millie’s greatest joy in her life were her “ABCs” – her granddaughters Allison, Brianne and Casey. She made sure she was at every theatrical/musical performance, school event, and athletic games over the years.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Nicholas of Myra Church, N. Dighton at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, April 21st. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset. Calling hours on Tuesday, April 20th from 3-7 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, Fall River.
