Obituary

Sandy Jarvis passed away after a long illness on Monday, April 12, 2021. Sandy was born on August 21,1945 in Santa Paula, California. She is the daughter of the late Evelyn and Orville Dodd.

Sandy became a mother at a young age, and became a waitress shortly thereafter. She enjoyed waitressing and while waitressing met the Love of her life, Harold Jarvis, whom she married in August 1973. They became restaurant owners together, owning ‘Doc and Sandys’ in East Ventura. She enjoyed meeting people and putting a smile on her customers faces with her light spirit, happiness and vibrant personality. Not only did she waitress, she also helped in the kitchen, cooking or preparing plates with Doc. Even though she was always working, she also raised her four beautiful children with much love. After 18 years in the restaurant business, they retired and moved to Medford, Oregon.

There they opened a Senior Care Home, ‘Count Your Blessings’, caring for her mother and numerous others throughout the years. She touched many lives with her kindness, love and compassion as a caregiver. Everyone was family to her and they all felt the love she shared with them. In 2016, they retired and soon after moved back to Ventura, California.

Sandy lived her life with much grace and dignity. She loved and adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She taught them their bedtime prayers and they all remember her telling them, “I love you, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.” Her smile and laughter was contagious for all who were around her. She also loved her music, and loved dancing, especially the twist. She would have you dancing it with her in no time. And if you didn’t know how, she would teach you.

She Loved her husband Doc, more than any words could express and for 45 years they were never apart from each other. He was her king, and she was his queen.

We will all miss Mom tremendously, but we all know she is in a better place, dancing with the love of her life, Doc. She will always be in our hearts and her love that she shared will continue for many generations.

Sandy was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Harold ‘Doc’ Jarvis and her brother Allan Narramore.

She is survived by her children, Gregory Chenoweth (wife Kat), Laurie Aho, Deborah Hackworth (husband Brian), Kathleen Zasada (husband Dano), David Jarvis (wife Janet), and Charlotte Benoit (husband Joe); brothers Bill Dodd, Ronnie Dodd (wife Beth), and Kenny Dodd; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
