Obituary

Joyce Ann (Wall) Dias, 88, of Dartmouth, passed away at the home of her daughter Joyce and son-in-law Jeff surrounded by love and spring’s fresh air on Sunday April 11, 2021. She was the loving wife of the late Robert A. Dias.

Joyce was born on April 15, 1932 in the West End of New Bedford. She was the daughter of Dorothy (Whitehead) Wall and Allan Clinton Wall. After graduating from the Truesdale School of Nursing, Joyce worked at St. Luke’s Hospital. That didn’t last long, though, because she wanted to start a family with her husband. They had dated since they were fifteen years old. She and our father had five children. Every time a new baby was born, we moved to a bigger house. 26 Summer Street was our last family home. It was noisy and filled with our mother’s love. She enjoyed every person who walked through our kitchen door. There were a lot.

Joyce is survived by her five children, Robert A. Dias and his partner Joan Dohne of New Bedford, Susan E. Kiley and her husband Bill, Margaret A. Silvia and her husband Jack, Catherine J. Dias and her wife Daphne E. Saverine, and Joyce Sioch and her husband Jeff, all of Dartmouth. The icing on her cake was her nine grandchildren…John, Jed, Liv, Charlie, Rita, Jake, Dorothy, Robert, and Sophie. She was the loving foster grandmother of Destiney. Joyce was the baby sister of Robert Wall and the late Donald Wall. She was a loving aunt to Richard Dias, David Dias, Nancy Campbell, Rick Wall, Susan Wall, Peter Wall and the late Nance Wall.

Our family would like to thank Patty Martin and Andrea Souza of Community Nurse Home Care for their love and compassion.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday April 16, 2021 at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth. Burial will follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
