Obituary



Norman L. Hodgerney, Sr., 76, of Centerville, MA, formerly of Worcester, died at home on Saturday, April 10th surrounded by his loving family. Norman leaves his devoted wife of 37 years, Mary (Butler) Hodgerney; six children, Norman L. Hodgerney, Jr. and his wife Karen of Leicester, Donna Cocaine of Holland, James Hodgerney and his wife Aimee of Rutland, Victoria Odgren and her husband Jon of Spencer, Christopher Hodgerney of Centerville, and Alyssa Martella and her husband Stephen of Worcester; eight grandchildren, three loving sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Norman was born in Worcester to parents Arthur and Lillian (Cross) Hodgerney, and he graduated from the former Commerce High School. A lifelong Patriot, Norman was proud to be a veteran of the United States Coast Guard as well as the Army Reserves. Norman continued his civil service with the Worcester Police Department, serving for 31 years and retiring in 1999 as a Sergeant. Norman’s favorite pastimes were spending time with his family, traveling, especially cruises, coaching little league, and birdwatching in his backyard.
His funeral is Friday, April 16th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Thursday, April 15th from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m in the funeral home.
