Obituary

Carlo “Carl” Gagliardi, 89, of Derry, NH, died Thursday, April 8, 2021 in the Windham Terrace in Windham, NH. He was born on October 27, 1931 in East Boston, MA, where he attended East Boston High School. He was a 22-year veteran of the United States Air Force. Trained as a jet engine technician, he served with the Strategic Air Command maintaining intercontinental bombers on readiness during the Cold War in bases from Alaska to Georgia. He later supervised the maintenance of some of the Air Force’s most advanced tactical fighters in air bases like Torrejon, Spain, where he was promoted to Wing Sergeant Major. During his career, Gagliardi was also assigned as a military advisor to the Royal Saudi Air Force of Saudi Arabia. After retiring from the Air Force at Hanscom Air Force Base, MA, he opened his own appliance repair business in Derry. He was a lifelong member of the Air Force Sergeant’s Association. Carl was known to have a very witty sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Monello Gagliardi of Derry; his four sons, Carl Gagliardi of Dayton, OH, Alan Gagliardi and Gary Gagliardi both of Derry, and Ronald Gagliardi of Myrtle Beach, SC; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; his sisters, Sarah Gagliardi Hanlon and Patricia Gagliardi Forlizzi both of Lynn, MA; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Tony, Frank, Angelo, and Albert.
