Obituary

Ronalee Wolf Johannsen “Roni,” beloved mother, grandmother, sister, artist, gardener, and friend passed away on April 3, 2021 at the age of 80. Roni died at her home in Stonington surrounded by her family. A Connecticut native and a Stonington resident for 50 years, she grew up in Wethersfield, the eldest daughter of Richard and Eleanor Wolf.
Roni loved to garden and had an exceptional knowledge of horticulture and ecology. She completed her Bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from UCONN at the age of 48 after raising her family. She was a talented artist, an avid reader, and a life-long learner. Roni was a founding member of the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center, and was a past President and Board member. She also volunteered with many local organizations including Friends of Harkness State Park, Contact of Mystic, and Habitat for Humanity.
Of all her accomplishments, Roni was most proud of her three children: daughter Kimmerly Singer (William) of Mystic, son Jeffrey Johannsen (Dawn) of Stonington, and daughter Elizabeth Meadows (Chad) of Durham, North Carolina - and of her six grandchildren: Abby, Doug, Andrew, Jake, Justin, and Flyn. Roni is also survived by her brother John Wolf of Wethersfield, and her sister Elizabeth Innes of Moncton, New Brunswick, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Margaret Yacuzzo.
A celebration of life will be held later this year. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Eleanor Buck Wolf Nature Center 156 Prospect St. Wethersfield, CT.
