Obituary

Shirley Elizabeth Channon, 91, of New Market Street, Cranston passed away Sunday April 4th. She was the wife of the late Douglas G. H. Channon. They had been married for 61 years before he had passed.

Born in Glocester, a daughter of the late Raymond O. and Ester M. (Blanchard) Howard. Shirley had lived in Glocester before moving to Newport and Cranston. She had retired from the State of RI after 25 years of working with the school lunch program. A servant of the St. John the Evangelist Church in Newport, where she was a member of the Altar Guild. She was also a member of the Women of St. John’s and had also maintained the flower gardens surrounding the church. She had also been a member of the Queen of Sheba, #10, Eastern Star, North Scituate.

She leaves her daughters, Glennis G. Channon of Cranston and Pamela L. Brightman of North Scituate. She was the sister of Robert Howard, Beatrice Anderson, Dorothy Lees and Priscilla Poudrier all of Harmony and Marjorie Waskiel of Johnston. She was the sister of the late Russell Howard Ernest Howard, Milton Howard, Frank Howard, Warren Howard and Robert Howard, Viola Kandzerski, Mildred Laiho, Frances Tetreault, and Carolyn Mathewson.

Her funeral and burial were private.
