Obituary

DUDLEY – Dianne E. (Jacques) Smith, 66, died Monday, April 5, 2021 from complications of pancreatic cancer.

She is survived by former husband of 35 years, Mark E. Smith of Sutton; her brother, Norman L. and wife Judith Jacques of Southbridge; her lifelong and dearest friend, Kathleen M. (Jezerski) Blair of Dudley; aunts and uncle, Lorraine and Read Rich, and JoAnne McGuire; her former in-laws, Dr. Emerson and Earlene Smith of Oxford; her close friend and sister-in-law, Patricia and her husband Brian Smith of Charlton; her nieces, Jennifer & Kevin Thomas, Nicole & Evgeni Tzvetkov, Caitlin Smith, and Stephanie Gendron; 2 nephews, Philip Jacques and Michael Jacques; 2 grand-nephews, Cameron and Eli Thomas; a grand-niece, Mia Thomas; several cousins; many friends; and her beloved beagle Freddy.

She was born on June 30, 1954 in Webster. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard P. and Rita E. R. (Ethier) Jacques, both of whom died in 2020. She graduated from Saint Anne’s Elementary School in 1968 and from Bartlett High School in 1972.

Ms. Smith was first employed as a secretary at Anglo Fabrics Co. in Webster. She later worked as an office manager at H&R Block in Webster. Prior to retiring in 2010, she worked for Sam Pappas, C.P.A. in Webster. She volunteered at AARP in Webster for 6 years. She was a long-time volunteer at the Pearle L. Crawford Memorial Library in Dudley and a member and officer of the Friends of the Library.

She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Webster and was the chairman of the church festivals for several years. An accomplished singer, Dianne was a member of the Salisbury Singers in Worcester for 15 years. She was a life member and secretary of the BHS Alumni Choir which had the honor of performing for Saint Pope John Paul II. Dianne had a special gift for bringing fun and laughter wherever she went. She touched many lives with her many quiet acts of charity. She enjoyed reading, singing, painting, photography and traveling. In her lifetime, she visited 50 different countries many with her best friend “Kath” by her side.

Dianne would like to thank all the wonderful friends and family who helped her through her surgeries and cancer treatments by their many acts of kindness. “I can’t thank them enough for making me feel loved and cared for throughout my journey.”

A memorial Mass will take place on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street, Webster (please meet at church). Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Webster. Donations in her memory may be made to the Webster-Dudley Food Share, 4 Church Street, Webster, MA 01570.
