Obituary

Dudley – Jeannette M. L. (Gauthier) DeYoung Worrick, 95, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021, with her daughter Joanne by her side, at Overlook Masonic Health Care Center, Charlton.

Jeannette was born on January 15, 1926 in Webster, the daughter of Honore and Eva (Dragon) Gauthier and lived in Webster and Dudley all her life. She graduated from Saint Anne’s Elementary School and attended Bartlett High School for 2 years, choosing to leave school to go to work. She was employed in Webster shoe factories and at Webster Spring Company in Oxford, at Harrington Gun Factory in Worcester and at Leland Gifford. Her last job was at General Motors in Framingham where she worked for 13 years, retiring in 1988.

Her first husband of 25 years, Willis DeYoung, passed away in 2001 and her second husband of 34 years, Robert Worrick, passed away in 2004. Jeannette and Bob loved to travel. Their trips abroad included Egypt, Israel, China, Japan, Hong Kong, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand and the Fiji Islands. They toured the South American countries of Brazil, Columbia, Peru, Chile and Argentina and also the European countries of England, France, Italy, Holland and Germany. They cruised to Mexico and Jamaica. They visited Canada and twenty-nine U.S. states, including Hawaii and Alaska.

After retirement, she and Bob spent 8 years in Orlando, Florida. In their younger years, they enjoyed playing golf as well as watching golf and football on television. In her early years when raising her children, the family enjoyed summers at their lake home in Charlton and ski weekends at Mount Snow, Vermont. She had been a member of several bowling leagues in Webster and Orlando. She volunteered for the Tri-Valley Senior Services Meal Program.

Jeannette enjoyed her senior years with friends at the Webster and Dudley Senior Centers. With her quick wit, she liked to make others laugh. She was an avid reader and excelled at completing puzzles.

In 2018 she moved to Christopher Heights in Webster and last year to Overlook Masonic Health Care Center, where she received wonderful care and attention from the staff and from Overlook VNA Hospice Services.

Her family will greatly mourn her loss for she was a caring mother and a loving grandmother. She was kind and generous and always willing to help others in need.
