Obituary

WESTON: Greg Riggio, age 69, passed away on April 2, 2021. He was a much beloved uncle, brother, cousin, nephew and friend. He had a giant laugh and a bigger heart that will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY to Mary (Raniolo) and Lee Riggio. He attended Weston High School and Boston College and had a long career with Lorillard Tobacco Company.
He began his love affair with the game of golf at age 8 when his family moved to Ohio but was also an avid bowler and fisherman. He was a dedicated Red Sox fan through thick and thin.
Greg had an uncanny knack for finding connections with everyone he met. He could be waiting to cross the street and become friends with the person standing next to him before the light changed. His family is grateful to the many longtime friends who came and called during his last days, sharing memories of cross-country camping trips, fishing trips, bowling tournaments, card games and golf vacations—where he had many of the greatest times of his life.
Greg’s family meant everything to him. Although extended family lived out of state, he never missed an opportunity to gather to laugh, eat and reminisce with them. His beloved nephew Michael was the center of his life. He imparted to him a love of history and enjoyed taking him to historic sites around the state and country. In Michael’s younger days they could be frequently found in Dairy Queen’s parking lot telling pirate stories while eating their hotdogs and ice cream.
He leaves his sister Marianne Riggio and her family, Tom Miller and Michael Riggio of Weston. He also leaves his extended family, and many cherished friends.
Visiting hours will be held at John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rt 30), Wayland on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. Due to COVID restrictions Greg’s funeral and interment will be private.
