Francis J. Fraser Sr., 67, of Norton died unexpectedly on Friday March 24, 2006 at The Morton Hospital in Taunton, MA He was the beloved husband of Dorathea (Munoz) Fraser.
Born in the Dorchester section of Boston, MA on June 17, 1937 he was the dear son of the late Francis P. and Catherine (Rogers) Fraser.
He was educated in both Boston and Norton schools and was a graduate of Norton High School. Upon graduation he entered The United States Air Force and served at the end of the Vietnam War and at the beginning of the Korean Conflict. While serving in the Air Force he was an airplane mechanic. He went on to become a self-employed home builder and operated under the name of Francis J. Fraser Inc. for many years.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton. He was a true sports enthusiast focusing especially on the Red Sox and Patriots. He also extensively collected sports memorabilia. A smart person, he could fix almost anything. He enjoyed being with his family. He will also be remembered for his photographic memory and the love he showed to animals. He had made his home in Norton for over 47 years.
Besides his loving wife Dorathea he is survived by his devoted children Josephine Derby and her husband Richard of Attleboro, Theresa L. Fraser of Florida, Francis J. Fraser Jr. and his wife Suzanne of Wisconsin and Jonathan J. Fraser of Norton. His cherished grandchildren Michael Derby, Elisha Derby, Matthew Derby, Nathaniel Fraser, Jessica Fraser and Benjamin Fraser. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Geraldine Fraser.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday March 29th at 9:00 A.M. from The Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, South Worcester St., Norton. Burial will follow in The Norton Common Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday March 28th from 6-9 P.M. at the funeral home.
