Obituary

HOLYOKE – Richard M. “Rick” Robbins, 61, of Holyoke and a former longtime resident of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, March 21, 2021. He passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on August 5, 1959, a beloved son of Richard J. Robbins of Chicopee and the late Dorothy M. (Landers) Robbins who was Called Home on August 20, 2007. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School in 1977 and had lived in Chicopee most of his life before moving to Holyoke. He was briefly employed as a wood worker for a local cabinet manufacturing company. During his leisure time when he was younger, he enjoyed drawing, reading comic books, listening to music and attending local music concerts. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing. Rick’s family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the staff of CHD Mental Health and a special thanks to Jenny, Scott and Laura at CHD for their assistance with Richard during his life. In addition to his beloved father, Richard leaves his brother, Mark E. Robbins of Chicopee; his sister, Tracy A. Chouinard and her husband, Rick, of Ludlow; his three cherished nieces, three cherished nephews and nine cherished great nieces and great nephews; and his many dear cousins, extended family members and numerous friends. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Jeremy W. Robbins and Michael J. Robbins. His funeral services and burial will be private. There are no visiting hours. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to support National Alliance on Mental Illness and made payable to NAMI Western Massachusetts, 324A Springfield Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
