Arthur R. Wood, 81, of New Bedford died March 28, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.
He was the husband of Irene (Mandeville) Wood.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Owen and Evelyn (Desjardin) Wood, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
He was the proprietor of Wood Electronics in Acushnet for many years and later retired from Bridgewater State College Media Department.
Mr. Wood served in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carol Wood and her companion Leonard Alves of Westport; 2 sons, Arthur Wood, Jr. and his companion Deirdre Sanders of Fall River and Steven Wood of Florida; a brother, Robert Wood of Venice, FL; 7 grandchildren, Alexander, Ivana, Joshua, Richard, Ryan, Jonathan and Victoria; 2 great-grandchildren; and several cousins.
He was the brother of the late Owen Wood, Jr.
His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 7th at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesdays April 6th from 5-7 PM.
