Obituary

CHICOPEE – Susan M. “Sue” Pronovost, 72, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at Care One at Northampton surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on January 4, 1949, the beloved daughter of the late Francis J. Pronovost, Sr. and Mary T. (Saunders) Pronovost. She was raised in Holyoke, graduated from Holyoke Catholic High School and lived in Holyoke for many years before moving to Willimansett. She was employed for many years in the office at the Daniel O’Connell & Sons Construction Company in Holyoke. She was a communicant of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee and currently was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. During her leisure time, she enjoyed listening to music and reading Clive Cussler novels. She enjoyed horseback riding during her younger years and always enjoyed going to the Big E in West Springfield. She loved anything “Irish” and volunteered at Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen & Pantry in Chicopee. Most of all, she loved her family and her many friends. She leaves her loving sister-in-law, Denise A. Pronovost of Chicopee; her cherished nieces, Karen M. Ruffner and her husband, James, of Chicopee and Andrea S. King and her husband, Jonathan, of Enfield, CT; her cherished grandnephew, Nathan Walter King of Enfield, CT; and her many cousins and numerous friends. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her loving brother, Francis J. “Frank” Pronovost, Jr. who was Called Home on June 18, 2016. Her funeral will be held on Monday, March 29, 2021 at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Jerome Cemetery, 1666 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA 01040. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, March 29, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
