Karl ‘Joseph’ Powers, Jr.
Loving Father, Grandfather, Brother

LOWELL     Karl Joseph ‘Joseph’ Powers, Jr., 71 of Lowell, passed away peacefully, Saturday, March 20, 2021 surrounded by his loving family after a period of declining health.

        A son of the late Karl Joseph Powers, Sr. and the late Ursula (Horgan) Powers, he was born on February 17, 1950 in Lowell and was educated in the Tewksbury Schools.   He served with the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.

       Mr.  Powers worked as a computer programmer for Raytheon Corporation for many years before his retirement.  In his retirement, he enjoyed doing odd jobs as they came along.

      Joseph enjoyed playing cards with his friends from Townsend and taking long drives, especially during the fall to upper New Hampshire and upstate New York, but spending time with his family was his favorite past time. Always quick with a wise crack, he will be remembered and missed for his ‘famous cupcakes’ and for always coaching youth sports when his children were young.  He also loved time spent with his precious grandchildren.

      His survivors include his children, Christopher Powers and his wife, Jennifer, of Tampa, FL, Nicole Apel of Hopedale, IL, Nathaniel Powers and his wife, Christine, of Duxbury, and Meghan Powers of Lowell; his grandchildren, Tallulah Powers, Braxton and Tucker Apel, and Benjamin and Harper Powers; his siblings, Kathy Mercer and her husband, Bruce, of Washington, John Powers and his wife, Debbie, of Reading, Eddie Powers and his wife, Donna, of Kensington, NH, Stephen Powers of Tewksbury,  Patti Clarke and her husband, Steven, of Vermont, and Karla Humphries and her husband, Bill, of Pelham, NH; his former wife and the mother of his children, Patricia Powers of Tampa, FL; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

     You are invited to his calling hours from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 27th, 2021 at the THE TEWKSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 1 DEWEY STREET, TEWKSBURY 978-851-2061.  His funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 4 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.  E-Condolence site www.tewksburyfuneralhome.com
