George J. Kyranos died unexpectedly on March 21, 2021 on what was to be a beautiful spring day, just like the ones he loved. Born in Naousa, Greece to the late John D. and Maria (Nicolaou) Kyranos, he came to this country as a young man of seventeen in 1956 settling in Boston. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elaine (Flomp) Kyranos; a son John G. and Leigh Kyranos of Fredericksburg, Virginia; a daughter Marika and Daniel Needham of Taunton; his grandchildren Alexis and James Kyranos of Fredericksburg; his brothers Kostas J. and Kassiane Kyranos of Milton, Christos and Basille Kyranos of Lakeville, a sister in law Frederika Kyranos of Naousa; many beloved nieces, nephews and their families both here and in Greece and his much loved god children James, John C., Yanni, Elena and Kleri. George was a well known person in Taunton’s restaurants. With his brother Chris, he ran the Gee & Cee Restaurant on Main Street for 10 Years and later spent five years in Dartmouth’s Friendly Pizza Shop. He returned to Taunton to be a cook/manager at G&S Pizza and A-1 Pizza. He made many friends over the years. A lifelong fisherman and hunter, he was a lover of the outdoors and all animals, especially his dog Roxie. He was a green thumb gardener who loved sharing the proceeds of his gardens with friends and neighbors. A good cook he was happiest when he had people to cook for. A Veteran of the U.S Army. He is also survived by a daughter Musette Kyranos and his late siblings Demetrios, Elizabeth, Sophia, Eugenia, Nicolaos and Euripidis. Funeral home visiting hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Thursday, March 25th from 4-7pm. A funeral service will be held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton, MA on Friday at 10am. Burial will be private.
