Obituary

Minnie Ola Monk Hutchinson, 80, of Lenox passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Larry Dean officiating. Mrs. Hutchinson will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. COVID-19 guidelines will be followed during the visitation and the funeral service.

Gary Mobley, Rusty Turner, Paul Howell, Jeb Hutchinson, John “Bubba” Sumner IV and Hunter O’Berry will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Julie Brown, Kenslee O’Berry, Bruce Mobley, Tony Howell, Fred Howell and Derrick Woods.

Born March 13, 1941 in Valdosta, Mrs. Hutchinson was the daughter of the late William Lewis Monk and Learh Irene Churchill Monk. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Vernon “Coot” Mobley; her second husband, William David Hutchinson; one son, Charles Mobley; one grandson, Vernon Woods; one brother, Robert Gene Monk; one sister, Marie Purvine; and one son-in-law, Gary Turner. She lived in Tifton for many years and worked at “Tift General”, now Southwell Medical Center, as a short order cook for 16 years. She was of the Baptist faith and loved going to church, singing in the choir and going to gospel sings and loved bacon. She loved to meet and talk to people, whether she knew them or not. She never met a stranger. She came from a very large family that she loved very much. She loved to spend time with her family and have family dinners. She was a very kind and loving person and was and is loved by a lot of people.

Mrs. Hutchinson is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Dianne Mobley of Ocilla, Donnie Eugene and Shantel Hutchinson of Ray City and Christopher David and Manda Hutchinson of Nashville; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Julie and George Brown of Nashville, Rose and Wesley Sumner of Jesup, Belinda and Bob Lynch of Ty Ty and Dezra Jean Turner of Lenox; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Danny and Pat Monk and Roy and Sue Monk, all of Palm Bay, Florida; 24 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to a favorite charity.
