Obituary

WEST FALMOUTH: Everett Schwartz, Jr. 93, formerly of Weston, Retired Captain of the Weston Fire Department, died on March 16, 2021 following a period of declining health.
He was born in Newton on April 18, 1927 the sons of the late Everett Schwartz, Sr. and Marion (Bellows) Schwartz.
Everett was the beloved husband for 61 years of the late BettyLou (Bolster) Schwartz who died on September 17, 2011.
He is survived by his devoted son, Jay M. Schwartz and his wife Margaret of Milford and Everett Aubrey Schwartz and his wife Cathy of Westminster. Cherished grandfather of Lacey T. Schwartz Cooke and her husband Mike of Rehobeth and Tyler B. Schwartz of Weston. Great-grandfather of Cora Lee Schwartz and Sadie Thayer Cooke.
Everett had been a longtime resident of Weston before moving to West Falmouth with BettyLou in 1983 following his retirement. He was educated in the Weston School System and graduated from Newton Trade School. He entered the United States Navy and served as a Seaman Apprentice during World War II.
He served the Town of Weston proudly and with honor with the Fire Department and retired after 30 years. On April 1, 1952 he became a member of the Call Department and maintained a temporary position until June 1, 1958. He became a permanent Firefighter on March 23, 1959 and on January 11, 1977 was appointed Lieutenant and in 1978 rose to the rank of Captain. He retired from the Fire Department on April 30, 1982.
For over 18 years he served as the Harbor Master in West Falmouth. Everett loved spending time boating and sailing. He also enjoyed the time spent on the Cape with his family and many family gatherings.
At the request of his family there will be no public visitations due to the current Covid-19 situation.
Those who would like to join the family may do so for Graveside Services on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Schwartz family lot in Linwood Cemetery, 190 Boston Post Road Bypass, Weston where they will receive you personally. Masks are required and social distancing will be observed.
In lieu of flowers, his family kindly suggests that gifts in Everett’s memory may be sent to the Weston Fireman’s Relief Association, 394 Boston Post Road, Weston, MA 02493 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd, Waltham MA 02452.
