Obituary

Suzanne Ziegelmayer, 95 years old, of John Mowry Road, Smithfield, RI passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday March 17th in her home. She was the wife of the late Thomas W. Ziegelmayer and the late John A. Thompson.

Born in Brussels, Belgium, a daughter of the late Octave and Jane (Massar) Herman. She immigrated to the U.S. to marry her first husband Tom Ziegelmayer, whom she met in Germany during World War II. She had lived in Smithfield for 55 years .

An avid traveler, over the years she had backpacked through Central and South America, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. Her travels were to visit some of the children she had sponsored through Children’s International. She had been a member of the Alliance Francaise de Providence.

She leaves her daughter, Kim Ziegelmayer, her son-in-law Kevin Porter and her grandsons, Whelan Ziegelmayer and Ray Porter, whom she called the joys of her life. She was the sister of Jacques Herman, Daniel Herman, Cecile Borremans, Claudine Wells, Anne Detora, Raymonde Navarette, Marie-Jeanne Dubois and Benjamene Wilson. She also leaves 23 nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday March 23rd at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Due to Covid 19 restrictions social distancing guidelines and face masks must be worn during Mass. Visitation will be held Monday March 22nd 5-7pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Funeral Home occupancy limits will be adhered to during visitation. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Children’s International, 2000 East Red Bridge Road, Kansas City, MO 64131
