Obituary

Gary T. Miffitt, age 73, passed away on Feb 12, 2021, at Baystate Medical Center after a long battle with cancer, with his soul mate Kathleen Riccillo by his side. A resident of Springfield, he was born in Holyoke on May 4, 1947, to the late Charles and Thelma (Lemieux) Miffitt. After graduating from Technical High School, he enlisted in the United States Army and trained as a data programmer. Upon his discharge with the rank of SP5, he was employed at IBM, Storms Forge, and Gerber Scientific for many years. Gary enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to cook, watch history shows, collect teddy bears and listen to music, especially his favorite artist Barbra Streisand. He leaves his devoted partner of 35 years, Kathleen Riccillo of Springfield; one son, Gary T. Miffitt and his wife Susan of Oakhurst, NJ; three daughters, Kate Miffitt and her husband Kris of Long Beach, CA, Kimberly Miffitt and her husband John of Stafford Springs, CT and Kelly Miffitt and her husband Eric of Windsor Locks, CT; one brother, Donald Miffitt and his wife Marcella of Chelmsford and their two daughters; eight grandchildren; one aunt and many cousins. Visiting Hours will be held on Wed, Mar 31, 2021, from 9:15 am to 10:15 am at Grise Funeral Home 280 Springfield St. Chicopee, MA, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am at St Anne Church 30 College St. Chicopee, MA. Burial will follow at the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
