Regina A. (Mateuszczyk) Powers, 95, of Medway, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 15, 2021. She was the beloved wife of John Joseph Powers who died in 2008.
Born in Medway on March 21, 1925, Regina was the proud, first generation daughter of Polish immigrants, John J. and Jadwiga (Jankowska) Mateuszczyk.
A lifelong resident of Medway, Regina (“Reggie”) was born just three houses down from the Medway home in which she lived for 92 years. She was a 1943 graduate of Medway High School and maintained close childhood friendships throughout her entire life.
In her younger years, she worked in the field of government contracts at Kendall Mills and Draper Laboratory. After marrying John in 1950, Regina devoted the rest of her life to raising her three children and caring for her family.
She was a devout member of St. Joseph Parish and enjoyed attending the many parades and St. Joseph Band and Color Guard competitions in which her children participated. She enjoyed rooting for the Red Sox, Notre Dame football, and watching EWTN. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and vacations to Cape Cod. She was the most generous person, always making do without while giving to others. She will be sorely missed by family, friends, and neighbors.
She is survived by her two daughters, Helen Butcher and her husband Robert of Medway, and Nancy Mandino and her husband Michael of Medway, and her son John Powers, Jr. and his wife Beth of San Francisco, CA.
Regina is also survived by five grandchildren: Stella Butcher of Wrentham, Meghan Mandino of East Boston, Ryan Powers of Scottsdale, AZ, Liam Powers of Omaha, NE, and Kyra Powers of San Francisco, CA. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter Chloe Powers of Scottsdale, AZ.
She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, and her devoted caregiver and friend Ama Dadzie.
Regina was predeceased by her siblings, Joseph, Stanley and Helena Mateuszczyk and Helene Smith.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, March 20 from 10-10:45 a.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
